Blog Assignment #1

dream
What my school would be like. Smartboards, iPads, Nooks, Kindles, MacBooks galore. Yes, that's exactly what my school would consists of. As Mitra stated in his video, we may not know what the future jobs will be but we must prepare our children for them. No one wants to carry around 4 and 5 textbooks that you barely open so why not eliminate the paper and pen and evaluate our students using online tests and assessments. Much like Krissy Venosdale's dream school, I want bright, engaging, and fascinating aspects all throughout my building. I would want a playground fully equipped with slides, a rock wall, a basketball court, monkey bars, and multiple slides. Just as important, the gymnasium would be large enough to hold an entire elementary school if needed. Any and every toy and necessary item needed to keep my students active would be supplied as well as having a ballet bar and mirrors on one side. In the classrooms, my students would be in comfortable, cushioned chairs, with a computer installed in their desk.I would want children to be excited to arrive and sad to leave school.

What I want my students to know My students will know that each individual has a purpose in life and before they leave my school they will understand the vital role they play in life. I want my students to know that no matter how many times people tell them they cant, all it takes is one time for them to prove "nay sayers" wrong. My school will be the ultimate NO BULLING zone. I have zero tolerance for students picking on one another. I truly believe that every child can learn but it takes an educator to show them that their are no limits to what they can achieve if they work hard.

What I want my students to be able to do I want my students to be able to think critically and be an individual but have the social skills to excel in a group. I want my students to be able to control a classroom with their inner confidence and their positive attitudes. I want to produce smart, confident, reliable, and technology savvy students.

What will be your primary way of teaching? My primary way of teaching will be practice practice practice. No matter the content area or difficulty, I want my students to LEARN valuable information, concepts, and methods and make sure it sticks with them instead of them forgetting everything that they were taught in three months.

What tools will you use in your classroom? The main tools that I will use in my classroom are iPads for self testing and end class assignments, a smartboard for in class participation, as well as recording devices. Whether its the smartpens or an app that records he material I am covering so they can go over the material with their parents.

What Role will my students play? Between centers being setup in the classroom and the smartboard, I will also have them help one another by doing buddy reading, and working on brain teasers or worksheets that cover new material that we've covered. Most children learn better from one another so why not pair them together?
